Gas Night
Articles about risks resulting from the storage and using of the liquefied natural gas have been recently published in the Fire Review and Fire Protection. In May the firefighters from the Podlasie province had to take a practical exam in dealing with this fuel and to take a rescue action to remove the risk resulting from leakiness of the road tanker carrying LNG. Skyscraper on Fire
There are almost 7.5 thousand skyscrapers in Hong Kong. And in New York, the birthplace of high-rises, there are 5444 ones. In Warsaw we have "only" 184 tall buildings. But both in our capital city and in other big urban complexes new tall buildings are being built. This breeds completely new challenges for the safety services. To rise to those challenges the firefighters from the Lower Silesia province trained in Poltegor, a tall building intended for demolition. By Lech Lewandowski
Explosion after Explosion
Bombs planted by terrorists explode in several places. A fire breaks out close to the mazout tanks. A tanker carrying 30% hydrochloric acid became leaky. There are casualties. It is a race against time in the Połaniec power plant. The action was supported by the police, emergency service, the Voivodship Crisis Response Team, rescuers of the Polish Red Cross, and Elpoż Center of Rescue and Protection of the Połaniec power plant. These were the first such exercises in the history of the Połaniec power plant! - by Magdalena Porwet

Pump on the Water
Operating prinicples of a pump have not changed, but increasingly better constructions allow to improve the parameters of its work and to decrease its size and weight, maintaining or even increasing its power at the same time. This applies also to a kind of fire pumps: floating impeller pumps, appreciated mainly for the simplicity of creating water abstraction points for them. By Krzysztof Łangowski

Old Photos Revived
Lively polka played vigorously by a brass band, called dechovka in Czech, strives to drown out the sound of whirring motors, whistling steam fire engines and snorting horses. Red varnish glitters in the sun, brass lamps shine. A rainbow of historic banners feasts the eyes. All that is permeated by an easy dégagé atmosphere supported by a drink of the world's best světlý ležák. We are in Litoměřice - a Mecca of the Czech lovers of the traditions of the fire service. Like Pompier with Firefighter
Our two colleagues - firefighters from France visited Warsaw in June.
