Kraków Captured by Firefighters. From Scratch to the National Rescue and Firefighting System
Joined with 15th anniversary of the State Fire Service, this years central celebration of the Firefighter Day was unusual, with unique atmosphere, since the organization is going through a difficult time of organizational changes. This issue was mentioned in numerous commemorative speeches on 10 May in Kraków and one day later in the Central Museum of Fire Service in Mysłowice, where a seminar devoted to the 15th anniversary of the SFS was organized. Four Million Interventions
In the 25 years between 1968 and 1992, the fire service units went into action 1,712,626 times, including 793,680 fires. In the next 15 years the SFS registered over 4 million interventions! Carried out from the beginning of the State Fire Service, the statistics show to what degree the burden on our service has increased - from slightly more than 100,000 incidents in 1993 to over 440,000 last year. Reviving Shock
The Act on Medical Emergency Service defines the scope of qualified first aid, which includes e.g. circulatory and respiratory resuscitation with the use of 100% oxygen and automatic defibrillator. The rescuers of the National Rescue and Firefighting System may arrive on the spot earlier than medical rescue units, and be present there when circulatory arrest occurs or when the victim is in a place inaccessible for medical services. In such cases the firefighters-rescuers have to be ready to start circulatory and respiratory resuscitation with the use of defibrillator. By Andrzej Kołacki.
Emergency Landing
"Ruby" is a code name of training organised together by the Airport Fire Service of the Warsaw Okęcie Frederic Chopin Airport and Regional Headquarters of the SFS in Warsaw. Its goal was to improve the methods of fighting fires and other local threats on the airport area as well as to improve the cooperation between airport rescue services and external rescue subjects. Hornet Crash
Pilots can be superstitious. Even those treating flying as entertainment. Classified as an ultralight aircraft, Hornet is one of many machines letting you enjoy this great hobby. Such an aircraft crashed on Friday, 13 April, just a few meters from a road in a forest, some 100 meters away from the border of Regional Training Center of the Fire Service in Borne Sulinowo. New Office, Old Problems
The statutes of the National Headquarters of the State Fire Service was modified few moths ago, followed by introduction of new organizational regulations. According to the documents mentioned some organizational changes were introduced in the HQ, concerning protection of population including civil defense; a separate Department of Protection of Population and Civil Defense was created.
