Risk assessment methods for district and county
Hazard assessment and analysis for areas of every administrative level, especially for districts and counties is associated directly with civil protection activities. Based on risk assessment competent authorities can plan either prevention or rescue operations. Contest for anti-safety
From 2002 a contest concerning most dangerous buildings in scope of fire safety has been organised in Łódź. This year certificates were given in the field of theatres and cinemas. Among 13 participants a certificates were given for the "New Theatre" and "Baltic Cinema".
Fatty flames
Does a fire of boiling fat create a hazard? That is a question. And the answer is: yes, it does! A fat used in most buildings where people are preparing their food is very dangerous for human and compartments. For example it could burn a human skin even with potential for human life's loss. In case of compartments it creates a potential fire hazard which is very difficult to extinguish and requires special fire equipment and proper extinguishing agents - by Stefan Wilczkowski from Scientific and Research Center for Fire Protection in Józefów.
Education a la carte
Last year the Scientific and Research Center for Fire Protection in Józefów organised 15 courses and training seminars which involved 900 participants. Geo-information - a nerve of crisis management
On this day of information society based on technical knowledge a geo-information is a basic element of information systems including GIS. Today it plays a meaningful role in the field of economic development of societies giving current information about environment and all phenomena around. A civil protection concept
In Poland from 2006 Vice Minister of Interior and Administration is also a Chief of Civil Protection and Chief Commandant of SFS is his deputy. It creates a big chance for Polish civil protection and crisis management system, based on new legal regulations - by Zbigniew Cezary Michalski.

Education system for voluntary firefighters in Germany
Professional fire service in Germany is provided in urban areas with more than 100.000 inhabitants. In smaller areas voluntary fire brigades are organised who must be trained - reported by Jan Kielin.

During creation and preparedness of security system for districts it has to be taken into consideration all needs of local areas like counties, etc. where there is not enough sources for proper crisis management. This concept was taken into account concerning Świdnicki Province in Śląsk - reported by Lech Lewandowski from Provincial Dept. of SFS in Wrocław.
Last year with medals
Physical education is a part of professional training for fire service in all administrative levels of Poland. High physical efficiency of firefighters influences effectiveness of firefighting and rescue operations on site. The best rescuers in 2005 were rewarded by Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service - Kazimierz KRZOWSKI during meeting of leader stuff of SFS.
Small badges, big problem
How to locate badges on the uniform? What are the rules? It seems to be easy. However these issues should be written in the law concerning rescue services. Problem is that there is no rules so far in this field.
