A meeting commemorating the 90th anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence was held in the Redutowe Rooms of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw on 25 November.

Fire in Spa
"Inferno in Spa", "Restaurant on Fire", "Fire in the Center of Ciechocinek", "Popular Restaurant in Ciechocinek Burnt" – these are only four of many titles used by both local and nation-wide media to report on a huge fire of a complex of wooden buildings in the spa town of Ciechocinek. Apart from the town’s characteristic graduation towers and popular fountain, also the Grzyb – one of the three most recognizable landmarks in the center of the spa was on fire. The fire embraced a building with the total area of 1,146 square meters and with the cubic capacity of 12,204 cubic meters. Twenty one fire service units took part in the extinguishing action. Mass Casualty Incident in Town
Friday, 7 October 2008. It is 10 am on the Świecka Street in Tuchola. A tragic accident of three minibuses. There are 16 victims, most of them in a serious condition. According to unconfirmed reports there are several persons dead. This could be a message of a journalist informing his press agency about a road accident. This time these were only elements of a scenario of rescue system exercises under the code name “Mass Casualty Incident – Tuchola 2008". Plan Tested
Implementing the provisions of the Environmental Protection Act (Dz. U. of 2008, no 25, item 150) obliged the operators of the upper tier establishments to such actions as analysis and training of the internal emergency plans – at least once every three years to update them and to make some justified changes. An operator should immediately inform the regional chief fire officer and the regional inspector of environmental protection about the conducted analysis and about its results. By Agnieszka Rękas.

“Once I found accidentally an old letter, it is like three hundred years old, from a parish council to a person building first organ. He was always late at work and he asked the council to be allowed to work at night. However, the council did not agree, since, as it was written: the churchwarden and the assistants will not keep watch on his candles at night," says Rev.
